Native Irish wildflower seed: Wild teasel, leadán úcaire
A tall native biennial with spiky leaves and egg-shaped flowerheads often seen growing along railway tracks or embankments. In its first year it forms a rosette of spiny leaves, low to the ground, followed by tall, branched stems topped with green, spiny flower heads with rings of purple flowers, which are loved by bumblebees. The dried seedheads last all winter, making it a tall architectural plant. The seedheads are loved by goldfinches and were traditionally used to tease out wool, hence the common name Teasel. Dried flower heads make great table arrangements. Seed is from True Harvest seeds in Co. Down, who collect seeds from native Irish origin, grown and collected in Ireland to preserve our unique Irish flora. c70 seeds per pack. Price includes postage within Ireland. Price in our shop is €4.95.
