Pomegranate 'Dente di Cavallo'
A plant that gives both stunning flowers, and with the right conditions, edible fruits. Pomegranates originate from the mediterranean and need conditions as close to that as we can get here. A sunny border with well drained, gravelly soil is a must. This rounded shrub with bronze leaves when young gets funnel-shaped bright scarlet flowers in summer. This in itself is worth growing it. In long hot summers, the flowers might be followed by reddish brown edible pomegranate fruits, up to 10cm across. Bring inside or cover with fleece in harsh winters, until well established and has a woody trunk. Maximum height 10ft, but it will take some time to reach this. 2L pot.
