Bare root plants - free to the best home
Bare root season is pretty well over, and we have a lovely selection of remaining bare bare root plants that we would like to GIVE to a good home. Tell us how you will use them, and we'll post them out, anywhere in Ireland. We'll decide who is the most deserving, based on what you tell us. You could be a school wanting a new hedgerow, someone wanting to plant a wild part of their garden, a farmer looking to plant a small copse of trees. Answer by contacting us, or on our Facebook page. They'll need to be planted in the next couple of weeks, so make sure you have a space for them and a spade handy.

Bare root trees are fast and easy to plant. The easiest methor is to cut into the ground twice, making a 'T' shaped cut. Cut the vertical part of the T first. Turn the spade around 90° and prize open the vertical cut by pushing the spade backwards / downwards. Slip the plant into the cut, roots down of course, and firm it in. Ensure that the tree is straight, stable and neither too deep nor too shallow. When you get good at it, you should be able to plant a bare root tree in less than one minute. These bare root trees are approximately 60-90 cms tall. Bare root plants will become available again in November 2016 - March 2017.
