Armoracia rusticana
Horseradish
Price: €2.95
Horseradish is grown for its roots which, when harvested in autumn, grated and mixed with vinegar, make horseradish sauce. This is traditionally served with roast beef. It is also used in many eastern European dishes, including chrzan, a polish sauce used to accompany fish. Plant in fertile, moist soil in a sunny spot. Once established is trouble free, coming back each year. It should however be divided from time to time as the older woodier roots are not good for consumption. Small plants in a 9cm pot.
