Helictotrichon sempervirens
Blue oat grass
Price: €7.95
The very best of the 'blue grasses' - dramatic powder blue foliage and tall graceful blades are the hallmarks of this plant. The leaves resemble rigid, tapering pieces of steel blue blades collected in a spiky dome, with slender flower stalks to 60cms in early summer. Combines well with purple or silver-leaved plants such as Nepeta, Catananche or Stachys. Grow in well-drained, poor to moderately fertile soil in full sun, and tolerates gravelly, infertile soils. Remove dead leaves and old flowers in spring. Tolerates drought once established. Shown here in a garden by us in Bray, Co Wicklow. 2 litre container.
