'Black Lace' elder

One of the darkest-leaved plants available. This hardy shrub is prized for its dark foliage which could form the basis for a most interesting planting scheme including reds and bronzes. It grows well in fertile, moist soil, but is tolerant of almost all soil conditions. It can be pruned hard if it gets larger than you want it, removing shoots right down to ground level in spring. In warmer situations it will also flower with pale pink flowers in early summer. Good for sun or light shade. Height and spread 60 x 60 cms. 3 litre container.
